The Make Shed

The Make Shed was established by Claire Ambrose-Gordon, an artist and maker based in rural Kent. From our studio — our ‘shed’ — we design and handcraft sustainable clothing that combines artistry, comfort, and conscience.

Each piece is made in the UK, thoughtfully created in small quantities using natural, responsibly sourced materials.

We create unique designs in-house and make everything in the UK. Our garments are crafted in small quantities, with simple, considered cuts that celebrate the skill of local seamstresses and knitters. Every piece is made with care — a reflection of our commitment to sustainable craftsmanship and consciously treating the planet kindly.

Our clientele value slow, thoughtful fashion — garments that feel good to wear and do good for the world. We cater to a broad range of customers, across all ages and genders, creating timeless pieces designed to be loved and worn for years to come. Together, we’re breaking the unsustainable cycle of fast fashion — choosing quality, integrity, and longevity instead.

We believe fashion should be an extension of your personality, something that enhances your everyday life and brings joy to getting dressed. Each piece is designed to last — effortless, enduring styles that encourage buying less and wearing longer.

Live thoughtfully. Dress beautifully.

Live better — The Make Shed way.
